Catchall / Wildcard Aliases

How to set up a catch-all alias to capture all emails sent to your domain.

ImprovMX allows you to set up catchall aliases that capture all emails sent to your domain, regardless of whether the recipient address exists. This is useful for intercepting typos and monitoring all incoming mail.

Default Setup

When you register a domain with ImprovMX, a catch-all alias is created by default. If you need to recreate it, the process is straightforward.

How to Configure

  1. Access your ImprovMX dashboard
  2. Navigate to your domain's Aliases section
  3. Enter * in the Alias field (the wildcard character)
  4. Specify your destination email address in the Forwards To field
  5. Click Add to save

Expected Behavior

Once configured, all unmatched emails to your domain will forward to the specified address. This means any message sent to any non-existent address at your domain gets routed to your chosen recipient.

Testing

To verify functionality, send a test email to a random address at your domain (avoiding addresses already configured as destinations) and confirm delivery to your forwarding address.
